Handling Occasional Out-of-Range Data Values

Occasionally, Blake devices may report unusual temperature values, such as:

  • Extremely low readings (e.g., -275°C)

  • Rare out-of-range readings (e.g., 7°C)

These occurrences are temporary, isolated anomalies and do not reflect actual environmental conditions.

Cause

Out-of-range readings can be triggered by:

  • Temporary sensor glitches

  • Brief communication errors between the device and cloud

  • Environmental or electrical interference affecting the sensor

Important: These anomalies are rare and do not indicate a malfunction of the device.

Impact

  • Only individual data points are affected

  • Device self-corrects automatically after the anomaly

  • The overall reliability and accuracy of device data remain intact

Future Improvements

  • Blake is developing a cloud-level update that will automatically detect and skip temporary incorrect readings

  • Once implemented, such rare anomalies will no longer appear in the customer data
